2014-2016 Foresters manufactured from March 25th, 2013 - April 28th, 2016 are being recalled for the rear coil springs under a Customer Satisfaction Service Program. These vehicles have VIN numbers that range between EG428969 and GH569086.
Description of the Forester Rear Coil Spring Recall:
The Forester models listed above have rear coil springs that corrode and owners may notice flakes or small pieces of metal underneath their vehicles. The springs have a protective coating that may wear due to impacts from rocks or other road debris. When the protective coating is compromised the coil spring begins to pit and rust with small fragments breaking off over time. In extreme cases the spring could fracture. Excessive corrosion or fractures of the rear spring coil can be detected when one corner of the vehicle sits or rides lower than the others.
What work is needed to repair the WUT-05 Rear Coil Spring recall and how long will it take?
Your Local Subaru dealer can replace your Forester's rear coil springs with new ones engineered with increased corrosion protection. The repair should take about two hours to complete and is free for Subaru Forester owners who have been notified their vehicle qualifies for the recall repair.
