Which vehicles are impacted by this recall?
Description of the WUV-07 Safety Recall:
The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in your Subaru Ascent has a hydraulic sensor which may be inaccurately measuring the hydraulic fluid pressure. This may cause the CVT chain to slip resulting in irregular noises, hesitation while driving, vibration, or a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) to illuminate on the dash display. If this chain slip occurs regularly it could result in loss of power and put drivers in risk of a potential crash.
How is the CVT Chain Slip fixed and how long will it take?
Your local Subaru Dealership will reprogram the transmission control unit and check for certain diagnostic indications that the CVT chain has slipped. The hydraulic sensor harness may be replaced and if evidence of low drive chain tension exists the transmission assembly will be replaced. All these services will be performed free of charge by a certified Subaru service department. The time needed to repair your CVT recall may vary based on how many parts fail inspections and testing. In general allow for 2 hours but if the transmission assembly needs replacement expect your repair to take several hours.
